Digital and AI-based solutions at ACHEMA 2024

Pavia, May 15th, 2024: SEA Vision announces its participation in ACHEMA 2024, the world leading event for the process industries hosted at the esteemed Messe Frankfurt GmbH venue in Frankfurt am Main, Germany

From June 10 to 14, attendees can visit SEA Vision at Hall 3.1, Stand G8 to explore innovative solutions tailored to drive pharmaceutical digitalization, while elevating quality control and product traceability to ensure safety and compliance.

SEA Vision will showcase some cutting-edge innovations at the upcoming Achema fair: the primary focus will be the exploration of Artificial Intelligence integration into pharmaceutical solution, enhancing their systems efficiency, worldwide renowned for their robustness and quality. Additionally, the unveiling of a completely redesigned User Interface, emphasizing web-accessibility, app-specific features, and customization to elevate UX (User Experience) and usability.

Visitors to the SEA Vision stand can expect to experience:

  • a-eye clearance, powered by Artificial Intelligence algorithms, showcased on a complete vial packaging line featuring the CODY vial sealing machine and RLF 800 labeller, both by Marchesini Group.
  • vision inspection quality controls on pharmaceutical products, such as vials and syringes, performed by OCVMulti and Databox across various equipment setups.
  • track and trace system Tracker integrated with a Marchesini Group labelling machine SL-A210, equipped with a tamper-evident labelling unit.
  • yudoo comprehensive digital software suite.

a-eye clearance for the first time in action on a complete packaging line

Line clearance is vital for pharmaceutical production, guaranteeing the cleanliness and readiness of equipment and workspaces. Traditionally reliant on manual oversight, these processes are prone to human error. In response, SEA Vision introduces “a-eye clearance”, the automated AI-driven solution designed to enhance line clearance processes’ efficiency and safety.

a-eye clearance combines AI algorithms with industrial cameras to simultaneously inspect packaging rooms and multiple pieces of equipment. Through AI integration, the solution optimizes changeovers, ensuring packaging lines are 100% cleared of previous batch remnants, ready for new production with unparalleled precision and speed. This not only avoids human error but also reduces downtime and elevates Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) across production lines.

At ACHEMA 2024, a-eye clearance makes its debut beyond single-machine applications. Visitors to booth G8 can witness its functionality on display, managing complete lines such as a vial line, comprising two machines seamlessly connected with the Yudoo Pharma software suite.

SEA Vision’s dedicated team of experts will explore the latest key concepts in depth with visitors, such as:

  • Validation approach: Thanks to a dedicated validation strategy according to ISPE adoption for AI systems, the solution is integrated into GMP procedures.
  • Inspection execution pipeline: we will discuss the several main phases that compose a-eye clearance execution pipeline. Through this process, the software can deliver impeccable final results for the processed image.
  • Algorithms: SEA Vision worked on a static and variable approach to image analysis to recognize both objects as static entities within a scene, or – with the variable approach- objects in movement in different positions in a scene that is not fixed. For example, screws or hardware parts on the carousel that shift position according to the machine phase at the stop moment.
  • ROI: speaking with SEA Vision’s experts, it will be possible to clearly understand the benefits in terms of time and costs that automated a-eye clearance brings, if compared to traditional manual operator processes.

Experience vision inspection excellence

During the fair, visitors to the SEA Vision stand can witness vision inspection controls in action.

One such system is Databox, which ensures accurate vial crimping on a Marchesini Group vial crimping machine. Recent enhancements to the system’s optical setup and algorithms have maximized crimp control accuracy, reflecting SEA Vision’s commitment to innovation and research and development (R&D)

Another highlight is the OCVMulti system, capable of various syringe inspections showcased on a magnetic transport module. This system advantageously allows SEA Vision to simulate different product positions and movements under their cameras, mirroring real packaging machine scenarios. This enables SEA Vision to demonstrate its systems in various simulated layouts, efficiently and effectively, such as at an exhibition. The demo station at the fair will feature different controls dedicated to disposable syringes.

The extreme compactness of this demo station allows visitors to witness live demonstrations of various syringe and component integrity checks, simulating different stages of packaging or assembly. Visitors can observe how OCVMulti recognizes if a glass syringe has a broken flange, a crucial quality check typically performed on a syringe filler. It also verifies if the stopper is correctly screwed and if there is any residual air between the stopper and the liquid—critical assessments for product quality.

Finally, typical labelling machine checks will be demonstrated, including label presence and correct application around the syringe.

Finally, a very complex safety device check will be performed. Using two cameras, OCVmulti verifies that the safety device is correctly assembled and that the safety “teeth” are partially activated, ensuring device integrity.

This demo station not only showcases SEA Vision’s expertise in handling complex controls and automations but also explores realistic testing scenarios for customer products in a more authentic environment. SEA Vision has a test center equipped with a 3D printer to prepare proper product holders for customer products and test them before installation on real machines.

Leading the way to traceability compliance.

At ACHEMA 2024, SEA Vision will showcase Tracker on the Marchesini Group Labeller SL-A210 with labelling unit for tamper-evident seals. Tracker is the Level 1 pharmaceutical serialization solution capable of performing runtime checks of serialized codes printed on serialized drug packages, and perform parent-child aggregation operations.

The SL-A210 usesSEA Visionarchitecture to oversee the whole serialization process, ensuring automatic connection to ERP company systems for production data acquisition.

Additionally, it facilitates batch control from an existing MES system and establishes automatic connections to Level 4 for the provisioning of serial numbers to the machine. Furthermore, it enables automatic connection to Level 4 for event posting and facilitates the sending of batch information to the packaging machine and printer to apply codes on cartons. It also supports codes reading and print quality verification. Finally, it provides full event monitoring on the line, including rejections or possible automatic/manual reworking.

Finally, the solution allows to communicate with all regulatory agencies to be compliant with all serialization requirements existent in all different markets, including Tatmeen, DSCSA, NHRA and others.

SEA Vision’s integration with Marchesini SL-A210 enhances workflows, boosts productivity with tailored hardware componentsincluding HMIs and miniaturized cameras. Integrated software ensures efficient handling of reworking and rejection management, streamlining operations of reworking activities and rejections decommissioning, thanks to strong software logics integrated with the machine.
